Chapter 6: The Ten Refinements of the Body
However, at this moment, he felt an immense sense of satisfaction and excitement within, for he had successfully completed the first forging of his body. The chaotic energy that had been piled up earlier began to disperse, circulating within his body in an orderly manner, integrating and being absorbed.
However, when your body reaches a certain level of strength, absorbing more spiritual energy will no longer be beneficial to you. To illustrate, your body can be likened to a container; once the container is saturated, you will be unable to absorb any more spiritual energy. Therefore, at that point, you will need to find ways to expand your body's capacity to store more spiritual energy, so that you can become increasingly stronger
The human body consists of many parts, ranging from large organs and bones to smaller tendons and blood vessels. These parts exist from the moment a person is born, and although they may change as a person grows, they will always remain within a general range of variation. However, the ten methods of refinement that I teach you are designed to fundamentally alter these parts, allowing them to undergo changes that exceed the usual limits.
Meanwhile, Chang Xiang also noticed the changes in Lou Yun's body, and his voice followed closely: "Not bad, I originally thought it would take you three months to reach this stage, but I didn't expect you to advance a month early. However, you will need to expand your body now, and this process is not easy. If you succeed, then you will be able to select suitable mortal soldiers!"
The new patriarch of the Lou family has been selected. Originally, everyone thought that Lou Tianming's third brother, Lou Tianlei, would assume the position of patriarch. However, the usually low-key Lou Tianzhi surprised everyone, as his strength had surpassed that of the severely injured Lou Tianming, having remarkably reached the realm of a high-level two-star spirit soldier. Therefore, the position of patriarch naturally fell upon him.
Although Changxiang sometimes speaks harshly, Louyun can sense that he is genuinely trying to help him. Even though he hasn't offered any specific advice at the moment, over the past two months, he has certainly said a lot, and Louyun has taken note of everything.
Countless spiritual energies surged within the body, but compared to usual, these energies now exhibited a more violent state. This was because the various parts of Lou Yun's body were no longer sufficient to accommodate them all at once, and yet they all sought to enter. The more they squeezed, the more chaotic it became; ultimately, none could enter at all, and they could only pile up together.
Elder brother
Every evening, Lou Yun visits her father, who, for reasons unknown, has yet to awaken. Fortunately, there have been no further deteriorations; he appears to be in a deep slumber, which reassures Lou Yun.
Chang Xiang scoffed and said: "Running with weights? The methods you mentioned are the most foolish, the slowest, and the least effective ways to refine the body. If you practice these methods, you might achieve some minor progress after ten years, but beyond that, there will be no further changes. What I teach you is the most superior method of body refinement, which I call the Ten Forgings of Body Refinement. Listen carefully!"
Upon hearing the term "cultivation," Lou Yun no longer engaged in the debate over titles with Chang Xiang. He turned over and stood up, saying: "Alright! How do we cultivate? Is it necessary to run, or do we need to carry weights and the like?"
Two months passed in the blink of an eye. On this morning, Lou Yun, who had been diligently cultivating in his room all night, suddenly felt a sharp pain emanating from within his body
Young man, you truly are impressive. You managed to accomplish it in just one day. Now go take a shower, and when dawn breaks, we will go buy the goods!
There is no need for the title of master. How about this: from now on, you can just call me big brother!
A quantitative change can lead to a qualitative change. Now, after absorbing a sufficient amount of spiritual energy, Lou Yun's body is finally about to undergo a qualitative transformation
Luo Yun smiled faintly and did not speak further. After spending this period of time together, he had gained some understanding of Chang Xiang's character and temperament.
Indeed! It is settled. Changxiang shifted the topic and said: "You have been meditating for such a long time; you should have gained some understanding regarding the absorption of spiritual energy. Now we will proceed to the next step and begin the cultivation of your body."
Luo Yun confidently smiled and said, "Then we shall go tomorrow"
The most skilled doctors cannot locate the meridians within the human body, as they are merely a concept and do not have a physical form. However, under the spiritual perception of Lou Yun, the existence of the meridians can be felt, resembling a spider web, intricately and chaotically covering the entire body
Although Lou Yun has not practiced body cultivation, he has read descriptions of it in the books he has studied, which is why he asked this question
Thus, apart from sleeping and eating, Lou Yun dedicates all his remaining time to cultivation, to such an extent that even Chang Xiang finds it hard to bear. However, Lou Yun has his own perspective on this; he has already wasted nine years, and now he needs to reclaim all the time he lost in the past
After a moment of relaxation, Lou Yun recalled the events of yesterday, causing him to involuntarily question whether he was dreaming. He hurriedly whispered, "Chang Xiang, are you still there?"
The true method of body refinement should be practiced from the inside out, which involves absorbing the spiritual energy from the heavens and the earth, and then integrating this energy into every part of your body, including the meridians, bone marrow, blood, and organs, to strengthen them. This essentially means completely transforming and enhancing your body, leading to a fundamental change in its essence
The spiritual energy between heaven and earth is continuously absorbed by Lou Yun's body, circulating within, and then, under Lou Yun's impetus, the spiritual energy is integrated into various parts of the body
Luo Yun muttered to himself: "Since the meridians are of utmost importance, I shall forge the meridians in my first refinement!"
After a day and night, Lou Yun had mastered the method of absorbing spiritual energy. What he needed to do next was to integrate the spiritual energy into his body. Although it was somewhat challenging, with Chang Xiang's guidance and Lou Yun's own perseverance, it did not take long for Lou Yun to achieve this.
Luo Yun could distinctly feel his body greedily absorbing the spiritual energy from the heavens and the earth, much like a person who had been hungry for a long time
Although the sudden pain contorted his features, a wave of excitement surged within him, for this signified that his body had reached the first saturation state, which is the first forging in the Ten Refinements of the Body
A ray of sunlight fell on Lou Yun's face. Unbeknownst to him, Lou Yun had already been sitting on the mountain peak until the morning of the next day. When he opened his eyes, he felt an indescribable comfort throughout his body, prompting him to stretch lazily with great force. It had been a long, long time since he had experienced such a pleasant feeling
"Tomorrow?" After a moment of surprise, Changxiang burst into laughter, saying, "Alright, I want to see how you will expand your body in just one day!"
In my view, the human body is akin to a common weapon, requiring continuous forging and refinement through countless trials to be perfected. Therefore, I refer to the method of body refinement as the "Ten Forgings of the Body," which means that during this stage of expanding the body's capacity, you must undergo at least ten trials
Although the days of cultivation are extremely dull, just thinking about the ridicule he has faced over the past nine years, as well as his father who remains in a comatose state, waiting for him to heal him, makes Lou Yun feel that this bit of dullness is truly insignificant
These meridians, as Chang Xiang has likened them, are indeed only the width of a finger, and even that is only as thick as a little finger. There is a mass of spiritual energy, about the size of a walnut, striving to push its way in, and the pain that Lou Yun feels is precisely derived from this.
Don't push, don't push
As more and more spiritual energy flows in, the area of the meridians is clearly expanding gradually. With each slight expansion, the building clouds will immediately allow more spiritual energy to continue flowing in, in order to maintain this expansion until the area of the meridians is fixed and no longer contracts before stopping.
Taking a deep breath, Lou Yun opened his eyes. He did not immediately attempt to break through this bottleneck, as he needed some time to adjust his state. This also reflects that Lou Yun possesses a transcendent mindset, remaining unhurried and composed, neither arrogant nor anxious.
For example, the meridians of a person are of utmost importance. If they can only accommodate the thickness of a single finger's worth of spiritual energy, then when spiritual energy of two fingers' thickness attempts to flow in, the meridians appear insufficient. At this point, you must expand your meridians, making them wider and thicker, so that they can accommodate spiritual energy of two fingers, or even three or five fingers' thickness.
Now, you should begin to strengthen your body. Whenever I believe your body is strong enough, we will proceed to the next stage of training.
Chang Xiang's voice rang out: "Hey! Kid, you are being a bit disrespectful, daring to call me by my name!"
Anger aside, in the face of indisputable facts, they dared not openly express their dissatisfaction and could only accept this outcome
Closing his eyes, Lou Yun once again entered a state of meditation, beginning the first refinement of his body
This method of body refinement runs through your entire cultivation process from beginning to end. Initially, you actively guide and stimulate the spiritual energy to integrate it into your body. Once your body has adapted, it will automatically begin to absorb spiritual energy for its own integration. In other words, in the future, your body will possess an almost instinctive ability for self-cultivation, requiring no effort on your part
For most of the clansmen, there was no reaction other than surprise; they naturally hoped that their clan leader would be as powerful as possible. However, a small group of people were extremely angry about this outcome, and they were the family of the Third Elder, Lou Runshui.
Confirming that yesterday's experience was a fact, Lou Yun felt even more relaxed and couldn't help but tease Chang Xiang, saying: "So what should I call you, Master?"
Although it was only slightly rough, the pain caused by the expansion of the meridians was still immense. Lou Yun gritted his teeth and persevered, slowly guiding and applying a bit of force to forcibly push this strand of spiritual energy into the meridians.
Most people believe that physical training is simply about exercising and increasing physical activity to strengthen their bodies. While this approach can lead to a stronger physique and firmer muscles over time, it also results in a body that becomes rigid and lacks the necessary flexibility, which can harm bodily functions and ultimately proves to be more detrimental than beneficial
With both hands clenched into fists, Lou Yun distinctly felt a solid sense of power emanating from his body, and he nodded in satisfaction
Thus, Lou Yun continued to expand his meridians segment by segment. When he completed the expansion of all the meridians in his body and opened his eyes, he realized that he felt as if he had just been pulled out of water, drenched in sweat from head to toe. A gentle twist of his clothes would yield water.
Luo Yun murmured softly, while immediately beginning to channel the spiritual energy. First, she dispersed the energy that had become entangled, and then she artificially condensed the energy into a segment slightly thicker than her little finger, slowly pushing it into her meridians.
